U.S. athletes won five gold, three silver, and a bronze for a total of nine new medals yesterday.  That included the big soccer match between the United States and Japan, which was worth a $1.5 million bonus from the U.S. Soccer Federation. Not too bad for a country that barely gives a crap about soccer.  Here are the new medal winners:

#1.)  The Women's Soccer team beat Japan two to one to win gold.  Carli Lloyd scored both goals.  That means a $75,000 pay day for every member of the team.

#3.)  Ashton Eaton won gold and Trey Hardee won silver in the Men's Decathlon.

Usain Bolt won gold in the 100-meter dash on Sunday, and in the 200-meter dash yesterday, finishing with a time of 19.32 seconds. That makes him the first runner in Olympic history to win both the 100-meters AND the 200-meters in two straight Olympics.  And when he crossed the finish line, he decided to celebrate with some good old-fashioned POOR sportsmanship. As he finished the race, Usain put his finger to his lips in a "shh" gesture.  It's not clear if he was telling the crowd to be quiet, or his critics.  It's hard to imagine that he has too many haters at this point.  Although what he did next won't help . After the race he dropped to the track and did some push-ups, to show that he had plenty of gas left in the tank. -Then he told reporters, quote, "I'm now a legend.  I'm also the greatest athlete to live."  Although he also said, quote, "I am in the same category as Michael Johnson.  I'm honored.  It's all about Michael Johnson for me."

Joe Simpson -- Jessica Simpson's father -- was arrested for DUI in L.A. ... TMZ has learned. According to law enforcement sources, 54-year-old Joe was busted on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks on August 4. We're told LAPD cops pulled Joe's car over around 10 PM ... and during the stop, officers got the feeling he was intoxicated and ultimately cuffed the famous pop and took him to the pokey.Joe was booked and spent the rest of the night behind bars. He was released without having to post bail at 9:41 the following day.The case has not been sent over to prosecutors in the L.A. City Attorney's Office yet, but if criminal charges are filed, it's likely Joe will not get any jail time since it's his first offense.  He'll probably end up with a big fat fine -- something his daughter will have no problem paying

Ryan Buell, paranormal investigator and star of A&E's hit series Paranormal State, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He is 30 years old.
Buell, who founded the Paranormal Research Society, was released from treatment Wednesday morning, his staff wrote on his his Facebook page. "Things are looking positive after complications with his kidneys started a month ago and temporarily knocked him down," read the update. "Ryan enjoyed some Wendy's (but keep that a secret) and reported back to work today."
Buell, who wrote a memoir, Paranormal State: My Journey Into the Unknown, in 2010, has been speaking out about his battle on his official fan page. And he wants to make something clear.
He's not the only one struggling with this terrible disease.
"You all also know that Ryan ... wants to make sure that others are taken care of first," wrote a member of the PRS staff. "Ryan has been honored and humbled by the support, but also wants to make sure that we all remember the struggle is not his alone."
"There are those who have struggled with this disease for years, those who are diagnosed every day and those within the support network surrounding them. Ryan knows he is loved and supported, and would want for that love and support to stretch beyond this community."
The post asks that Buell's fans support organizations that are working to find a cure and organizations that offer support to loved ones of those with the disease, citing the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and its taking action initiative.

MTV has been all over "Twilight" since it became a phenomenon . . . so if this is true, it's not necessarily surprising .A so-called "source" says that jokes about the KRISTEN STEWART cheating scandal are BANNED from the "MTV Video Music Awards" . . . which air live on September 6th. Both Kristen and ROBERT PATTINSON are scheduled to present . . . (--Although I could very easily see one of them pulling out) . . . and host KEVIN HART will be under orders to, quote, "refrain from mentioning it." Meanwhile, says Pattinson has been receiving tons of GIFTS from "Twilight" fans since Kristen's WHORISH WAYS were exposed. But a source says, quote, "His kind heart has got the better of him, and in a selfless act he decided to send all the gifts he received to local hospitals and senior citizens homes."

This might freak some fans out, but "The Twilight Saga:  Breaking Dawn - Part 2" won't have the same ending as the book."Entertainment Weekly" says author STEPHENIE MEYER and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg came up with something new.  But if it makes you feel any better, both ROBERT PATTINSON and KRISTEN STEWART like it. Rob says, "When I first read the script, I got to that part and was like, 'What?'  And then I had to go back a page.  It does it a serious justice." And Kristen says, quote, "It's clearly made by someone who really cares.  That's why Bill Condon is perfect.  Thank God for him."

People are starting to suggest that BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE are getting married this weekend, because they're holding a big family gathering at their home in France.-It's supposedly a 50th anniversary party for Brad's parents, but rumors are flying around the Internet that it's really the wedding.  Especially because one of the guests is the jeweler who made Angelina's engagement ring.

Botox and other artificial beauty procedures are kind of a sad epidemic these days.  But KELLY RIPA gets props for not hiding her reliance on them.-She tells "In Touch Weekly", quote, "I work out every day.  I don't overeat.  I try to drink water, but I prefer wine, and when all else fails, I get Botox injected right into my forehead as much as possible!"And her kids basically tell her when she needs another shot . . . quote, "It's when my kids start asking me if I'm mad at them, and I say, 'Why do you think I'm mad at you?'  They say it's because I'm frowning."I go, 'Oh no! I am?  I'll be right back!'"  (--Kelly is 41.  She and Mark Consuelos have three kids, ages 9, 11 and 15.)

WHITNEY HOUSTON would have turned 49 yesterday.  And to mark the occasion, BOBBI KRISTINA and her boyfriend Nick Gordon got Whitney's initials tattooed on their wrists.-Bobbi Tweeted a picture of their new ink.

AMY WINEHOUSE'S ex-husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL is in a coma after a suspected drug overdose.Blake was rushed to the hospital last Friday after his girlfriend found him choking in bed.  He has suffered major organ failure and is currently on LIFE SUPPORT.  He's 30 years old.Fielder-Civil met Amy in 2005.  They married in 2007, and divorced two years later.  One of their breakups even inspired much of Amy's "Back to Black" album.-A lot of people blame Blake for getting Amy hooked on drugs, and that includes Amy's parents . . . who've rarely had a kind word to say about him.But yesterday Amy's dad MITCH Tweeted, quote, "Terrible news about Blake this morning.  Remember Amy loved him.  Let's pray for his recovery."That's a solid gesture when you consider this:  In his recent book "Amy, My Daughter", Mitch called Blake, quote, "the biggest low-life that God ever put breath into."  That book just came out in June of this year.

It seems like the Orlando Magic have been trying to trade DWIGHT HOWARD for YEARS . . . and basically, they have been.  But it looks like it's finally happened. Late last night, reported that Orlando would send Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers in a blockbuster FOUR-TEAM deal with the Denver Nuggets and the Philadelphia 76ers.  Here's how it breaks down: The Lakers get:  Dwight Howard from the Magic.

HEATHER GRAHAM wasn't in "The Hangover Part 2", but she's coming back to play Jade the stripper once again in "Part 3".There's no word what she'll be doing in the movie.  We haven't heard anything about the plot yet, except that it WON'T involve the guys getting drugged and having to figure out what they did the night before.

In a radio interview yesterday, ALANIS MORISSETTE hinted that she might be in negotiations to be a judge on "American Idol" next season. When asked if "Idol" has ever contacted her about judging, Alanis said, quote, "I'm in talks with SOMEBODY right now, I can't name any names, but I'm pretty excited at the thought of doing it more formally. "I still have to investigate further, and that's all I can say."   Meanwhile, the "New York Post" is reporting that "Idol" has asked DIDDY if he's interested.  Supposedly, he isn't hot on the idea at this point.  Sources tell E!
