Beginning Saturday, November 10th, B Docktor will become the seventh solo artist to show at Maplebrook School's annual fall exhibition. B was one of thirty-four local and regional artists that displayed in Thalheimer Hall last spring during the School's annual Kentucky Derby Art Show, which drew more than 300 people on opening night and featured Andy Warhol paintings from the private collection of Tommy Hilfiger as well as a LIVE telecast of the action from Churchill Downs. The event raised more than $14,000 in derby action and art sales. All proceeds from the event were earmarked for capital projects and scholarship.
Based in Ancram, B. Docktor photographs the things she loves--the local landscape, farm animals, nature, as well as dogs and people. This exhibit at Maplebrook School is called "Essential Moments," and B will be showing her knack for capturing the essence of whatever it is that she photographs.
B states, "Whether I'm working with people at a wedding, or making pictures of a young family, a beloved family dog, or a favorite place--I'm always trying to capture something gorgeous, and real, spontaneous beauty and joy. I like to make a classic image that stands the test of time--something I never get tired of looking at. What's different about this show for me is that I'm going to put up pictures of people, as well as the nature and animal photos I'm known for. It'll be great to have a lot of walls to play with to show the diversity of my work.”
B's photography and work can be seen all over the Hudson Valley and in private collections. To view more of her work, you can go to www.bdocktorphotography.com, but to truly appreciate and be moved by her amazing portraits, we hope that you will stop by Thalheimer Hall on the main campus during the gallery hours which will take place on weekends from 1 - 4 PM from November 10 through December 15, 2012. An artist reception will take place on Sunday, November 11th during the same time. Guests and art enthusiasts may drop by to chat with B as well as enjoy some refreshments and listen to the musical styling of the Bash Bish Blue Grass Band.
