Three Kings Day Celebration

January 5th, 2013 -

Join Hudson River HealthCare in a community celebration of Three Kings Day on Saturday, January 5th, from 10 am to 12 noon. This FREE event will be held in the Lateef Islam Auditorium of the Family Partnership Center (FPC), 29 North Hamilton Street, Poughkeepsie. Community members are invited to come to the festivities, participate and enjoy a traditional Latino holiday with the entire community.

This year’s celebration will include entertainment for the entire family, featuring traditional Latin American music, dance, theatre, gifts, and crafts. The highlight of the celebration will be performances from local entertainers. Attending this year’s Three Kings Day celebration are Hudson River Playback Theatre, who use stories from the audience to create improvisational theatre and music, and Grupo Folclórico de Poughkeepsie, a traditional Oaxaqueño dance group. During these performances there will be free activities for the children.

Children will be invited to make their own Crown, maracas, have their face painted and more! The celebration will also feature educational stations which will include Three Kings Day coloring books and an explanation of the importance of 3 Kings Day.

At the end of the celebration, the “Three Kings” will hand out gifts to all children 12 years of age or younger. They will receive a goody bag which will have a piece of the traditional Three Kings Day bread, the Rosca de Reyes, and a gift. Gifts are limited and will be distributed one per child on a first come, first serve basis.
