February 4th

Feb 04, 2013 -- 10:12am

The power outage and the almost-comeback by the 49ers were more interesting than the commercials this year .  We liked the Taco Bell commercial with old people acting crazy, the Oreos ad where people brawled quietly in a library, and the artsy Dodge Ram ad about the American farmer.  But we can't believe E-Trade brought out their talking baby AGAIN, or that "Gangnam Style" made it into a weak commercial.

The Super Bowl was interrupted for 34 minutes by a POWER OUTAGE last night, right after half time.  The Baltimore Ravens led 28 to 6 before half the lights in the Superdome went out.  And once the power was restored, the San Francisco 49ers made a HUGE comeback . . . but fell just short and lost 34 to 31.

BEYONCÉ drew some criticism for her not-so-live gig at PRESIDENT OBAMA'S inauguration . . . but at least for now, it seems like the Internet LOVED her Super Bowl halftime performance.-Beyoncé's set-list included "Love on Top", "Crazy in Love", "End of Time" and "Baby Boy".  And as expected, she reunited with former DESTINY'S CHILD members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland. --They performed "Bootylicious", "Independent Women" and a special version of Beyoncé's "Single Ladies".  Beyoncé ended the show with "Halo".

She pretty much owned the Super Bowl, and now she's prepping to take over the world...on tour, that is.Just hours after an electrifying halftime show, Beyoncé announced a world tour with a name clearly inspired by loving hubby Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter. Her Fierceness will launch the "Mrs. Carter Show" tour in Eastern Europe, including dates in Serbia and Slovakia, before burning up Europe and then North America.Jay-Z Tweets love for Bey's halftime showHer tour will finish up—where else?—in Brooklyn, childhood home of Mr. Carter.Tickets for North America go on sale Feb. 11.

If you're a fan of HBO's "Girls", but not of LENA DUNHAM naked, I've got bad news for you:  There's more of her SEXY FLESHINESS coming. She says, "My point with getting naked is never proven.  It's not like, 'Oh, I did it first season and now you guys get that there's women of a certain size on TV, so I'm done!'"

BOYZ II MEN will play Moscow on Wednesday . . . in order to encourage Russian people to HAVE SEX. Seriously . . . Russia's population is declining, and this show is reportedly part of an effort by President VLADIMIR PUTIN to get Russkies in the mood. Russia is looking at a possible decline of 25 million people by 2050, due to low birth rates and early death due to alcoholism, heroin abuse, pollution and general poor health.

JUSTIN BIEBER and SELENA GOMEZ may be back together.  Selena apparently spent the night at Justin's on Friday, and was spotted leaving early Saturday morning . . . trying to keep her face hidden, of course. --Sources say they were together at a joint called the Soho House on Friday night, before heading back to Justin's house.

KATIE COURIC admitted on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last week that she went on a date with LARRY KING 26 years ago.  But while she treated it as more of a learning experience, Larry had something else on his mind.  Katie says, quote, "He lunged . . . and I started laughing a little bit because the whole situation was out of a bad Lifetime movie."  She eventually told him he was "interesting" and "nice", but she should find someone her own age. Katie said MICHAEL JACKSON asked her out, too . . . but she declined that one.-She said, quote, "Can you imagine going to my daughters, who were 8 and 4, saying, 'Honey, I'm going out on a date with Michael Jackson.-"But I'm sorry I didn't just have dinner with him, because that would have been a fascinating conversation."

Back in the 1970s, SHIRLEY MACLAINE made her 17-year-old daughter lose her virginity with her boyfriend while Shirley and two of her sex therapist-friends were in the house.  Afterward they expected the kids to report back to them.  Shirley's daughter says, quote, "Once our mission was accomplished, we had to face the next hurdle:  reporting back.  We hid out in the bedroom until we heard a light knock on the door, and Mom's voice, 'Is everything OK in there?'"

LADY GAGA is being sued by a former personal assistant, and she went off on the chick during a six-hour deposition.  She called her a "witch", a "disgusting human being" and a "hood rat".  But most importantly she said, quote, "She thinks she's just like the queen of the universe.  And, you know what, she didn't want to be a slave to one, because in my work and what I do, I'm the queen of the universe every day."

Just two new movies hit theaters this weekend . . . a zombie love story and a SYLVESTER STALLONE action flick.  And the clear winner was the zombies.-"Warm Bodies" made $20 million to easily come in #1 over Super Bowl weekend . . . while Stallone's "Bullet to the Head" tanked, making just $4.5 million in 6th place.  That's Stallone's worst weekend box office haul in 32 years.  (--His movie "Nighthawks" opened to just $2.5 million in 1981.)

1.)  (NEW)  "Warm Bodies", $20 million.

2.)  "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters", $9.2 million. Up to $34.5 million in its 2nd week.

3.)  "Silver Linings Playbook", $8.1 million.  Up to $80.4 million in its 12th week.

Matt Farmer, who auditioned for "American Idol" on last Wednesday's show, has admitted to LYING about suffering a traumatic brain injury in an IED explosion in Iraq.  He says, quote, "It was ALL lies . . . I am EXTREMELY remorseful and VERY upset that I allowed myself to take from the hard work of the guys that I was deployed with."  Matt got a ticket to Hollywood, but he's no longer part of the show.

CHRIS BROWN just caught a big break.  FRANK OCEAN will NOT press charges against him for last week's brawl in the parking lot of a recording studio.  In a post on his website, Frank explained, quote, "I'll choose sanity.  No criminal charges.  No civil lawsuit.  Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom.  Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life."
