ANDREW SILVERMAN was apparently blindsided by his wife LAUREN'S affair with SIMON COWELL. His divorce papers accuse Lauren of adultery and "cruel and inhuman treatment." Sources close to the situation are calling Lauren a gold-digger, and saying she got pregnant on purpose.
Everyone involved in the SIMON COWELL baby drama spoke yesterday. Simon said, quote, "There are a lot of things I will eventually clear up when the time is right, but I really have to be sensitive because there's a lot of people's feelings involved here." And ANDREW and LAUREN SILVERMAN just released generic statements about wanting to resolve everything.
SIMON COWELL was reportedly blindsided by the news that he had impregnated 36-year-old LAUREN SILVERMAN. And he's wondering if he got taken for a ride.A source says, quote, "The pregnancy has taken him by surprise. He assumed she was using birth control. Simon thought this was a casual relationship . . . friends with benefits. The pregnancy was not planned.""He is feeling tricked. No question that Simon will want to be part of the baby's life, but I'm not so sure he wants to be part of Lauren's."
Back in May, the media started sniffing around SIMON COWELL'S relationship with LAUREN SILVERMAN . . . the woman we now know to be 10 weeks pregnant with his baby. At the time, though, he denied the relationship. His lawyer said, quote, "Any implication or statement that my client is engaged in adultery and has allegedly broken up the marriage of Ms. Silverman is not only false but reckless."Stating my client's relationship with Lauren Silverman has become more serious such that she is now getting a divorce so that Simon and she can be together . . . is false and defamatory."
AMANDA BYNES lost her bid for freedom yesterday. In a hearing that took place in the hospital psych ward, a judge decided that Amanda is NOT ready to be released just yet. Mostly because she isn't totally stable yet, and her condition hasn't been formally diagnosed. But sources say the meds Amanda is on ARE helping. For instance, she's no longer talking to herself or insulting people.
JAMIE LEE CURTIS was involved in a car accident yesterday in Venice, California . . . and for some reason she called JODIE FOSTER for help. Jamie was a passenger in an SUV that hit a BMW. She was taken to a hospital, but she only suffered minor injuries. But for some reason, the first call Jamie made after the accident was to Jodie . . . who showed up almost immediately.

JAMES CAMERON announced yesterday that there will now be THREE "Avatar" sequels. Or possibly two sequels and a prequel. Fox has confirmed that KEITH URBAN is coming back to judge "American Idol" next season. No other judges are official . . . but a Fox exec admits that they have had "discussions" with JENNIFER LOPEZ about returning. He also confirmed speculation they've talked with JENNIFER HUDSON and WILL.I.AM . . . but wouldn't say if those conversations went anywhere.Somewhat surprisingly, he also said RANDY JACKSON will be back, quote, "in some capacity." However, it sounds like he'll only be making "guest" appearances, rather than having any sort of significant, regular role.
Sitcom legend VALERIE HARPER has terminal brain cancer . . . but she's isn't letting that stop her. She's currently filming a made-for-TV movie called "The Town That Came A-Courtin'". She's playing the owner of a bed and breakfast. The movie will premiere on the cable network "Up" in January. (Valerie is an inspiration. If I had inoperable brain cancer, the LAST thing I'd want to do is work . . . especially on a TV movie for some obscure cable network.)
