The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” Breaks Billboard Hot 100 Record
- The Weeknd has broken a Billboard Hot 100 record with his single “Blinding Lights.”
- The song first hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in March and it remained within the top five on the chart for 28 weeks.
- “Blinding Lights” has outperformed Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” which held on for 27 weeks in 2017. Other notable songs that have reigned on the chart include, The Chainsmokers and Halsey with “Closer,” Post Malone with “Circles” and Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars with “Uptown Funk!”
- The Weeknd recently said he may have a follow up to After Hours saying, “I’m guilty of wanting to outdo my last album, but it’s never like, ‘I’ve got to do the same type of song.’ I’m so happy I’m not like that. My palette is so wide.”
