Big Time Rush at Madison Square Garden

The “Big Time Summer Tour” opened with an outstanding performance from the internet star Dixie D’Amelio. She recently released her debut album entitled “a letter to me” on June 10th with hits she performed such as the viral sensation “Be Happy” and “Someone to Blame”. This was her first time performing at Madison Square Garden and she did not disappoint. An emotional D’Amelio family even made an appearance right next to me front row and it was seemingly a big moment for everyone.

Big Time Rush is finally touring again after eight long years on hiatus. In 2021 they announced two shows for Chicago and New York, but they did not expect the response to be so positive. Capitalizing on the nostalgia of Gen Z, they were able to sell out Madison Square Garden (which has been a goal for the band from the start) for the first time in 2022. After the near two year quarantine, Tiktok has made every kid relive some childhood memories with Big Time Rush the television show being one of them.

The boy band had an amazing line up of songs mixing the nostalgia with the new music they have been releasing, the best part of which was definitely their energy. BTR’s obvious excitement to be back and having sold out the garden was so infectious, you could feel their emotion spreading to the audience! There were men and women ranging from all ages crying when the show started, people passing out if a member noticed them, and thousands of people chanting Big Time Rush before and after the show. It’s no wonder they won both the Kid’s and Teen Choice awards this year for Favorite Music Group! Rushers (as the band refers to its fans) will be happy to hear that their favorite band is back for good. Here’s hoping to one more season of the show for an even bigger boost of nostalgia!
