Bad Bunny Kicks Off Grammy Awards With Lively Puerto Rico Tribute

  • The reggaeton/Latin trap sensation Bad Bunny is the first artist to perform in Spanish and be nominated for album of the year.
  • He performed an upbeat set that included songs from his number-one album “Un Verano Sin Ti” to kick off this year’s Grammy awards.
  • The artist’s medley began with “El Apagón” (“The Blackout”), a passionate love letter to his native Puerto Rico. The lyrics of the song make reference to the ongoing problems with the island’s electricity grid left behind by Hurricane Maria.
  • Bunny then launched into a party song with merengue and mambo influences called “Después de la Playa,” also performed by El Conejo Malo.
  • What did you think of Bad Bunny’s Grammy performance? Do you think he was the right artist to open the show?
