In January of this year, Anthony Volpe was named one of the “Top 100 Prospects” on Minor League Baseball’s list. As of March 26th, just this past week, he has officially earned a spot on the Opening Day roster, starting shortstop. Volpe played for Tampa Tarpons, starting in 2021, but was shortly promoted to playing for The Renegades located here in the Hudson Valley. At just 21 years old, Volpe was invited by the Yankees this year to participate in Spring Training as a “non-roster player”. That is until this week, when he found out he would be starting on Opening Day as shortstop. Volpe will be starting today, sporting number 11 against the San Francisco Giants.
