"A New Home, A Bigger Mission: HVSPCA Expands at 92-Acre Montgomery Farm"

Big news for animal lovers here in the Hudson Valley — and it’s the kind that gives you all the warm-and-fuzzy feels.

The Hudson Valley SPCA is gearing up for a major move to the former Squirrelwood Equine Sanctuary in Montgomery. And this isn’t just any move. This 92-acre farm (yeah… 92 acres!) means the HVSPCA can finally expand their care beyond cats and dogs to help all kinds of animals. The animals already living on the farm will stay right where they are, now under the HVSPCA’s wing. It’s a huge step toward their mission of helping every creature that needs a second chance.

If you’ve been following their journey, you know they acquired the old Goshen Humane Society building back in 2023. Now they’re preparing to sell their New Windsor property as they take on this next big chapter.

Of course, a move like this comes with a hefty price tag. The HVSPCA has launched a GoFundMe to help transform the Montgomery farm into a fully functional, safe, and comfortable haven for all the animals they’ll be rescuing. And here’s where you might come in: they’re also looking for volunteers — especially folks with construction skills — to help build out the new facility.

If you’ve ever wanted to make a real difference for animals in our community, this is the moment. Whether you donate, volunteer, or just spread the word, the Hudson Valley SPCA could use all of us behind them.

Here’s to new beginnings, bigger spaces, and brighter futures — for every animal who needs one
