DUTCHESS COUNTY, LET’S TALK ABOUT PROTECTING OUR ANIMALS! πΎ
Listen up… animal cruelty is NO JOKE! And now Dutchess County is stepping up to make sure these innocent animals have a voice.
Starting November 1st, Dutchess County is launching a brand-new 24/7 Animal Cruelty Hotline where you can report suspected animal abuse, neglect, and other animal welfare concerns.
π SAVE THIS NUMBER: (845) 867-5055
That’s right — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with trained operators ready to take your calls.
Now, let’s be clear: if you’re witnessing active abuse or there’s an immediate danger, you still need to call 911.
The goal here is to get everyone on the same page — law enforcement, emergency response, and the District Attorney’s Office — so reports get where they need to go, cases get investigated, and these situations don’t fall through the cracks.
And here’s something else to think about: animal cruelty can sometimes be connected to other serious issues, including domestic violence and child abuse. So speaking up could help protect more than just our four-legged friends.
County officials say there’s still work to be done when it comes to humane law enforcement and providing shelter for abused and abandoned animals. But this hotline is a step in the right direction.
We just saw the disturbing news out of Greene County, where 100 cats were reportedly found inside a home in Catskill after authorities received a tip about the conditions.
So, listen up, Hudson Valley — if you see something, SAY SOMETHING! These animals can’t pick up the phone and ask for help themselves. Sometimes, WE have to be their voice. πΆπ±
