Dutchess County Celebrates Rev250 with Revolutionary Events and Local History

As the nation marks Rev250, the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, Dutchess County is bringing local history to life through special events and programs across the county.

Through Destination Dutchess and local historical societies, the County has awarded $87,000 in grants to support Revolutionary War-themed experiences, including reenactments, theatrical productions, colonial craft demonstrations, and interactive exhibits.

One of the featured events is RevCon: Dutchess County in the Revolution, taking place June 13 at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park. The free event will feature reenactors, scholarly speakers, hands-on displays from local historical societies, and demonstrations showing how supplies were transported during the Revolutionary War.

Other events scheduled throughout the year include the return of the popular Tavern Trail, a multi-town Quaker Meeting House Tour, Freedom Day celebrations in LaGrange, colonial craft demonstrations in East Fishkill, and original plays highlighting local Revolutionary-era figures and stories from Dutchess County's past.

County Executive Sue Serino says the anniversary is a reminder of the values of freedom, justice, and unity that continue to shape America today.

The 2026 County Budget also provided funding support to Destination Dutchess for a series of experiential Rev250 community events, including RevCon: Dutchess County in the Revolution, a free, family-friendly event featuring reenactors showcasing camp life, uniforms and tactics, held on Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Franklin D. Roosevelt President Library and Museum, 4079 Albany Post Road in Hyde Park.
