Free Food Distribution Coming to Newburgh Friday

If you could use a little help filling the fridge, there’s a great opportunity coming up in Newburgh this Friday.

The Newburgh Enlarged City School District is teaming up with the Regional Food Bank to host a free food distribution on Friday, August 21. The event will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the lower lobby of the Newburgh Free Academy Main Campus.

And this isn’t just a box of shelf-stable stuff. Fresh food will be available, and organizers say bags are expected to include a pretty solid variety of items—eggs, yogurt, tuna, macaroni and cheese, peaches, onions, almond milk, tortillas, cereal and more.

The food will be available to members of the community on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you’re planning to go, keep that in mind. Once the food is gone, the distribution is over.

It’s one of those simple community efforts that can make a real difference, especially with the cost of groceries these days. The school district and Regional Food Bank are making sure local families have access to fresh and nutritious food at no cost.

So, Newburgh, if you or someone you know could use a little extra help this week, Friday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at NFA Main Campus is the place to be.
