If you’ve ever stood along the Newburgh waterfront and thought, “This place has so much potential,” help is officially on the way.
New York State is investing $10 million into the City of Newburgh to help revitalize its waterfront—and this isn’t just a fresh coat of paint. This major investment is all about building homes, modernizing infrastructure, and turning the waterfront into a true economic engine for the city.
The plan includes funding for over 200 new homes, green infrastructure improvements, and big upgrades along the Liberty Street corridor. A key piece of the vision is the Newburgh Landing port project, which aims to reconnect the city with its riverfront and unlock new opportunities for business, recreation, and community growth.
Newburgh Mayor Torrance Harvey shared his appreciation for Governor Kathy Hochul’s support, calling the investment a major step toward boosting housing production and reclaiming the waterfront as a powerful asset for the city and its residents.
This isn’t just about development—it’s about transformation. The goal is to make Newburgh a thriving, inclusive city where longtime residents and newcomers alike can live, work, and enjoy everything the Hudson River has to offer.
From housing to green space to economic opportunity, this $10 million commitment is a big signal that Newburgh’s next chapter is already being written—and it’s looking pretty exciting.
We’ll be keeping an eye on how this unfolds…
