Second Flu Surge Hits New York

Hey, it’s Scotty Mac from K104, and a quick heads-up for everyone around New York: don’t let your guard down just yet

Medical experts are warning that flu season is far from over, and we’re actually in the middle of a second peak right now. The CDC says flu cases jumped 20 percent a couple weeks ago, followed by another 18 percent increase just last week. Yeah… not exactly the news we were hoping for.

Health officials say this second surge is a big reminder that winter flu season still has some fight left in it. Over at Northwell Health–GoHealth Urgent Care, they’re seeing that spike firsthand with more patients coming in sick, which is why they’re stressing how important it is to stay protected. If you haven’t gotten your flu shot yet, now’s the time.

Bottom line: protect yourself, your family, and everyone around you. Getting vaccinated can help keep you out of bed—and out of urgent care. To find a flu shot location near you, just head to vaccines.gov. Stay healthy, New York, and keep it locked on K104.
