The Chance Reborn: From Stage to Careers

One of the Hudson Valley’s most iconic venues is writing a brand-new chapter.

The historic Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie—once known for legendary performances—is now transforming lives offstage, becoming a launchpad for careers in the performing arts.

Through the Empire Training Center for the Arts (ETCA), The Chance has evolved into a hands-on training ground for adults looking to break into the industry. And now, with its second cohort starting April 21, that opportunity is growing even bigger.

This new Arts Administration program includes a partnership with New York Stage & Film at Marist University—giving students a direct bridge to real, paid work during their summer season.

The first class already proved the model works: real gigs, real connections, and real paths into the industry.

No traditional college route. Just passion, curiosity, and a chance to step inside a historic venue that’s been completely reimagined.

The Chance has always been about unforgettable moments with K104's Not So Silent Nights.

Now, it’s about creating futures.
