Well, this is a sugary twist nobody expected.
For a while, experts thought GLP-1 weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro would crush the candy business. Smaller appetites mean fewer snacks . . . which leads to sadder chocolate factories.
Turns out, not so much.
The gourmet Swiss chocolate company Lindt looked at new data and found premium chocolate sales jumped nearly 17% among GLP-1 users last year. So, what's going on?
Instead of mindlessly munching on chips or pizza, the CEO of Lindt said, "They are upgrading to premium products."
So apparently the new diet plan is simple. Make your chocolate count.
