Earlier this year, it seemed like American flyers were a little unsure about AIRPLANES . . . but at least it sounds like people are enjoying AIRPORTS a little more these days.
J.D. Power's annual "airport satisfaction survey" shows that overall scores improved by 10 points on a 1,000-point scale from last year to this year.
Among "mega airports," the Top 10 are:
1. Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP)
2. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)
3. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
4. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
5. Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas (LAS)
6. John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York (JFK)
7. Orlando International Airport (MCO)
8. Miami International Airport (MIA)
9. San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
10. Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
The bottom two are: Newark Liberty and Toronto Pearson International.
Among "large airports," the Top 5 are:
1. John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California (SNA)
2. Tampa International Airport (TPA)
3. Dallas Love Field (DAL)
4. Kansas City International Airport (MCI)
5. Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU)
The bottom two are: Philadelphia International and Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International.
And among "medium airports," the Top 5 are:
1. Indianapolis International Airport (IND)
2. Ontario International Airport in Southern California (ONT)
3. Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF)
4. Jacksonville International Airport (JAX)
5. Palm Beach International Airport in Florida (PBI)
The bottom two are: Edmonton International and Cleveland Hopkins International.
The study was based on more than 30,000 surveys from U.S. or Canadian residents who traveled through North American airports in the past year.
They asked about: "Ease of travel, level of trust, terminal facilities, airport staff, experiences leaving and arriving, plus food, beverage, and retail."
