The U.S. Is Nixing Its Recommendation to Limit Alcohol to One or Two Drinks Per Day

If you find yourself needing an extra drink these days, the American government says . . . SURE, WHATEVER, GO FOR IT.  (???)

An updated "Dietary Guidelines for Americans" will be released in the coming weeks . . . and they're NIXING the recommendation to limit your alcohol intake to ONE or TWO drinks per day.

They're NOT saying there's any less danger to your health . . . just that they apparently won't list a specific amount.  Instead, it sounds like there will just be a brief statement encouraging everyone to "drink in moderation, or limit alcohol intake due to associated health risks."

Regardless, this could be a major win for the alcohol industry, which has been "threatened by heightened scrutiny of alcohol's [negative] health effects."

One source says that the elimination of the "one to two drinks" guideline is primarily because "the scientific basis for recommending specific daily limits is limited."  In other words, it was kinda arbitrary.
